Ross-on-Wye Dementia Centre gets ready to open

By Ross Gazette reporter in Health

Work on the new Ross-on-Wye Dementia Centre, which will be based at Christ Church in Eddie Cross Street, is well underway.

Ross Dementia Meeting Centre (DMC) is an up-to-date version of a daycare centre where carers participate and those they care for are treated with dignity and respect.

The Ross DMC has started under the authority of Dr Simon Lennane at Alton Street Surgery. The initial member of the DMC will include some of the surgery’s dementia patients, other people with dementia and their carers are invited to make contact.

Ross DMC will operate every Wednesday from 11am until 3pm.

The Ross-on-Wye Mental Health and Well-being Steering Group is in full support of Ross DMC. Dr Lennane at Alton Street Surgery, Reverend Deborah Cornish of Christ Church, and Alan Harrison, a Ross resident, are members of the Steering Group. They, and other members look forward to meeting anyone with an interest in dementia care in Ross at the Prince of Wales on Wednesday, February 8th at 6pm.

The Ross DMC needs volunteers. If you are interested in helping, or if you require any further information about the Dementia Meeting Centre, contact Alan Harrison. Call 01989 567001 or email
