Ross Juniors U11s welcomed Bromyard to Wilton Road on a cold Saturday morning, but the pitch was in perfect condition for some good football and the home side didn’t disappoint as they ran out 10 – 0 victors.
The visitors battled well in the opening few minutes and the game was quite even until the first goal went in, David thumped the ball home from Theo’s lay off. Within minutes it was 2 – 0, this time Theo setting up Bill who gave the Bromyard keeper no chance with a great strike.
Those goals seemed to knock Bromyard, although they did threaten the Ross goal, only for Sol to make a great last-ditch tackle.
Theo had a great chance to score when set up by JT but he saw his shot go the wrong side of the post.
Ross continued to push forward and the Bromyard keeper saved two shots from Oli, before Oli set up JT to make it 3 – 0.
Niall added a 4th when their keeper could only parry another shot from Oli, and JT then made it 5 – 0 before the break.
The home side didn’t take long to add to their tally in the second half with Luca and Josh combining to set up Niall’s second goal of the game. Then Eddie was unlucky to see his shot go narrowly wide following a mazy run which saw him beat three opponents.
The Bromyard keeper denied Sol a certain goal with a great save but minutes later Sol added his name to the scoresheet following a great corner from Harvey. Sol then returned the favour, setting up a chance for Harvey but he shot narrowly wide before Oli added two goals in quick succession.
As the game entered the final 10 minutes, Roo showed some silky skills in the penalty area and hit a great left foot strike from an acute angle but unfortunately his shot flashed across the goal.
Birthday boy David had opened the scoring and perhaps it was fitting that he completed it as he added the 10th goal late on.
The final score was Ross Juniors U11s 10 – 0 Bromyard U11s
The Harley Finishings man of the match was awarded to the whole team.
