212 homes will be built in Ross-on-Wye

By Catherine Barkley in Planning

Herefordshire Council’s Planning Committee voted unanimously this morning (Wednesday, March 15th) to approve a planning application for 212 homes to be built at Hildersley Farm, Ross-on-Wye.

The application includes affordable housing, public open spaces, and a pedestrian and cycle route into the centre of Ross.

Andrew Banks, the planning officer told the meeting that the application had been amended a number of times since its orignal submission; the number of homes proposed was reduced to 212 from 250. This was in response to objections made by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in respect to the close proximity of the site to their firing range. The open space area has also increased in size as a result of the MoD’s comments.
