Local motorcycle racer, Luke Jones is devastated that a fall on the last lap of his practice sessions in Spain may rule him out of the start of the new Championship season.
Luke is part of Team Appleyard Macadam Racing who were testing in Cartagena. The team said:?“The test was a success and we believe that we are on the pace and ready for the challenge with both riders and bikes.”
Luke continued the Supersport testing plan from the visit to Cartagena at the end of last year. He will be riding a 600 Yamaha in the Supersport Championship, and the team said:?“His work ethic and pace continued to demonstrate why he holds the respect of the BSB paddock and British racing fans.”
Unfortunately, a crash on Sunday morning ended Luke’s test, when his finger got trapped under the bike. He underwent surgery in Spain on Sunday and, since returning home, has visited Bristol Hospital where he is being treated for damage to a tendon.
Although Luke hopes to be fit and ready for Round 1 at Donington Park on April 1st and 2nd it is possible that he may miss the first round of the championship.
Grandfather Clive told the Ross Gazette that his family and supporters all wish Luke a speedy recovery.
