Ross-on-Wye crew attends warehouse fire in Worcester

By Ross Gazette reporter in Emergency Services

A crew from Ross as well as crews from Whitchurch, Fownhope, Hereford and several other Herefordshire stations joined the teams tackling a huge fire at a trading estate in Worcester yesterday, Thursday, April 20th.

Approximately 70 firefighters and 16 fire engines were tackling the large fire at Blackpole East Trading Estate in Worcester.

The fire was reported to Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service at approximately 8.35am. As well as firefighters, police and ambulance were also in attendance.

The fire started in a warehouse on the Blackpole East Trading Estate. There were concerns that motorists and residents could be affected by the significant amount of smoke created and Dave Throup from the Environment Agency said: “Contaminated fire water has reached Barbourne Brook and we have seen some impacts locally. We are working with Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to minimise the environmental impact and prevent further run off.”
