By Ross Gazette sports reporter in Local People

Lovers of table tennis can now play the game at Ross-on-Wye tennis club.

A late Councillor, John Edwards, who was Mayor of Ross-on-Wye from 2009 to 2010, tried for many years to have the table tennis table set up at the tennis club.

When he was Mayor, Cllr John Edwards was Chair of the Sport and Leisure Federation, which aimed to bring more sport facilities to the town.

Sue Edwards, wife of John Edwards, told the Gazette that there are plans to install a memorial plaque on the table tennis table.

Denise Mason, former Town Clerk, commented that John Edwards really cared about the town.

After he died, the money left over in the Sports Federation was given to EnviroAbility, who began the work to have the table tennis facility installed at the tennis club.

Sam Humble, of EnviroAbility, said that everyone is welcome to use the table tennis table.
