Award night for Harewood End Agricultural Society

By Ross Gazette reporter in Farming

Two days of judging the Field and Livestock Competitions for the Harewood End Agriultural Society concluded at Porch Farm, Weston under Penyard, thanks to Chairman, Hugh Duthie, his wife, Jess, and his parents, John and Mary.

A feast of paella and local mixed fruits and refreshments were enjoyed by competitors, members and friends. The supper followed the judges’ announcements. Organiser, Toby Wenden had done a magnificent job organising judges from across the country who were transported by a small army of volunteer stewards.

The heat was record-breaking but all the judges reported their wonder at the variety and quality of the crops, stock and enterprises placed before them, making their job exceedingly difficult. The standard of entries was exceptional, with those failing to make the podium, getting a mention for their quality.

President, Sue Marshall presented the trophies and cups and thanked everyone in her concluding speech.
