Serious collision on M50 near Ross-on-Wye

By Ross Gazette reporter in Emergency Services

There has been a serious road traffic collision on the M50 this afternoon (Monday, August 7th).

The crash took place on the westbound carriageway, at approximately 2.19pm, between Junction 3 (Newent) and Junction 4 (Ross-on-Wye).

The Air Ambulance is on route.

There will be more updates as we get them.

Update: A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service told the Ross Gazette that they received four 999 calls about the crash.

The incident involves an overturned vehicle, and the 999 calls suggested that the car involved rolled several times.

Two people, a male and a female, are out of the vehicle and have been checked over by ambulance staff, and while the man does not appear to have any major injuries, the woman is being treated for a head injury.

Both patients are being taken to Hereford County Hospital.

There is currently an ambulance and a paramedic officer in attendance, and a second ambulance is currently making its way to the scene.

Two air ambulances were also initially called to the scene, but now, they have both stood down.

The right-hand lane of the carriageway is currently blocked, as there is debris from the crash all over the road. Please be aware that delays are likely, and take care if you are driving that way.

Update: The road is expected to clear between 4.15pm and 4.30pm this afternoon.
