By Ross Gazette sports reporter in Bowls

Ross Bowling Club (BC) has had a very good season so far with several of their members qualifying for the National Championships, at Leamington Spa during August, and will be representing Ross BC and Herefordshire.

The Ladies who were first to play were Jenny Murray and Marcia Gwynne, Herefordshire National Senior Pairs winners, who started on Sunday, August 6th; followed quickly by Jenny, Marcia, Joan Baker and Sue Dix, the County Rinks Champions. Jenny, Marcia and Sue have a few days off before they return to play the first round of the Triples on Monday, August 14th. Kate Williams, who was Runner-up of the Under 25 Singles, played her first round on Sunday, August 6th. Then Kate, with Amy Richards of Ledbury, will represent Herefordshire in the Under 25 Junior Pairs on Wednesday, August 9th.

In the Kington Shield Competion Ross Ladies followed their successes against Kington BC with another good win against Weobley Ladies in the quarter-finals.

Ross now go to Kington on September 3rd to play either Hereford Bowler or Bodenham in the semi-final of the competition
