Wormelow 2nd XI hosted Lye 2nd XI at Kennel Field. Home captain, Jordan Reading, lost the toss and Wormelow were asked to bat.
The home side suffered a major setback in the first over when, the in form Alex Lane fell for a duck. Opener Dave Bannerman then featured in several good partnerships as he moved the score along nicely with the help of Luke Jones (26), Cameron Bateman (20) and Ben Gunn (40). Bannerman eventually fell for 68 with the score on 151-4. Some late fireworks from Will Langlands (31no off 20 balls) saw the innings finish on a competitive 222-6.
In reply the Wormelow bowlers bowled with great discipline to restrict the run rate and wickets started to tumble. Will Langlands (3-19) removed three of the top five batsmen and received good support from Luke Jones (2-27), Callum Omelasz (2-29) and Dylan Baynham (1-31). The away side were never really in the hunt and were finally all out for 144 in the 42nd over. Wormelow came out on top by 78 runs and they now sit fifth in the league table.
