Twenty-eight years ago two Ross residents, Nell Badger and Councillor Anne Gray, were so impressed by Freda Pearce's determination to open a Hospice for South Herefordshire that they started to organise fundraising events. St Michael's Hospice was opened in 1984 by HRH Princess Alexandra and she returned to the Hospice on Friday, July 17th to celebrate the 25 years it has been open
The Princess enjoyed a tour of the building, including the newly built garden room and 'pod' (designed for teenage visitors) that have been added to the building since her last visit in 2005. She also met long serving staff and volunteers, including Nell Badger, who is 97, and Councillor Anne Gray.
