Ben Davis from Much Marcle and a friend are taking on a new and bigger challenge to raise money for charity.

In April 2008 Ben Davis from Much Marcle and his friend, Matt Deem, completed 72 holes (4 rounds) each at South Herefordshire Golf Course, in 13 hours, raising money for Acorns Children's Hospice.

That was easy, so in June 2008 they made the challenge greater and proceeded to play 100 holes each in one day, starting at 4.30am. They walked more than 30 miles meanwhile raising money for a Ugandan school.

This year Ben, aged 16, has set a new and tougher target. He and a golfing friend, Sean Linnie, aged 18, are going to attempt to play 250 holes each over 48 hours, from June 22nd to 24th June.

They will tee-off at 8pm using light-up balls, with the aim of completing 144 holes by 10pm the following night! They hope to have a few hours rest in a horsebox on site...then they will begin at sunrise to play the remaining 106 holes in daylight.

Overall they expect to have walked about 70 miles and they are very much hoping to raise £1000 for Cancer Research UK. Currently, they are several hundred pounds short of that target so, if you would like to sponsor Ben and Sean please go to http://www.justgiving.com/bendavis1">www.justgiving.com/bendavis1.'
