A man used a rock to try to break into a Ross-on-Wye hotel on Friday, June 9th between 1.50am and 2am.

The man was seen standing outside the Royal Hotel, Palace Pound, Ross-on-Wye and knocking on the glass pane. After a couple of minutes he could be seen using a large rock to smash his way through the left hand glass pane. Once there was a big enough hole he reached through to open the door.

As he opened the door a member of staff confronted him at which point the man said that he was looking for a room.

The member of staff told him that the police were being called. The suspect then left the premises. He was described as was being in his late 40s or 50s, wearing a black fleece and around 6ft tall.
