The road near to Talybont Lane, Crockers Ash, Ross-on-Wye was closed due to a house fire on Wednesday, April 3rd that had been caused by a resident trying to light a fire with an accelerant. He was airlifted to hospital after suffering multiple injuries.

Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews, one from Whitchurch and one from Ross-on-Wye, as well as crews from Cinderford, Coleford and Monmouth, were called to the fire in a bungalow in Whitchurch at 1.23pm.

A spokesperson for the Fire Service said: "Two main jets, two hose reel jets and street mains were used in extinguishing the fire."

West Midlands Ambulance Service reported that the man, who was in his 20s, had been trying to light a fire with an accelerant, and the 'flashback' had caused the building fire. Two ambulances attended the scene, and the casualty had suffered several injuries. He was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The incident was closed at 10.06pm.
