The Forest Police are appealing for information after a cat was shot with an air rifle in Mile End, Coleford, on Monday, September 13th.

The four-year-old cat called Lily had to have its leg amputated when it was shot, with what is believed to be an air rifle, at close range. Lily was taken to the vets by her owner, where it was discovered that the pellet had caused the bones in her shoulder to shatter.

Police Community Support Officer, Pete Timmins, who is investigating the incident, said that the cat was now recovering after surgery. He added: "We would encourage anyone with knowledge of this to come forward as this was a cruel crime on a defenceless animal."
