Residents have contacted the Ross Gazette with concerns about the skatepark in Ross-on-Wye being vandalised.

Deputy Mayor, Councillor Daniel Lister, corroborated these views and told the Ross Gazette that every morning, when the groundspeople empty the bins and have a general check over, they find more and more mess.

He added that this problem existed before the school holidays too, and fences are damaged, bins that were fixed to the ground are frequently kicked over, and ramps have been spray painted and had glass thrown at them.

Councillor Lister said: “It gets worse every day. It’s such a shame as families use it, as well as young kids. Some damage occurs in the day when families are there too.

“There’s a budget for skate park upgrades and maintenance but while this keeps happening it will all be spent on maintenance. One of the projects I want to do is skatepark improvements, and many want to see some too, but that costs and if all money goes on maintenance that will be difficult.”

Councillor Lister told the Ross Gazette that he really hopes to “get better connected” with the users of the skatepark, and he welcomes all ideas and thoughts from them. One opportunity to talk to Councillor Lister is at the councillor surgery on September 28th.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
