Local police officers are investigating a number of crimes which took place in the Ross-on-Wye area, during the past few days. They ask that if any local residents have any further information about any of the following incidents, they call 101, and give the reference number provided.
Attempted break in to restaurant
an unsuccessful attempt was made to break in to a restaurant premises in Ross-on-Wye town centre, overnight between Friday, July 1st and Saturday, July 2nd. Please contact the police by calling 101 if you have any further information about this incident. The reference number is 436-S-020716
Shop burgled
A shop on Crofts Lane, Ross-on-Wye, was broken into and stolen from between 5pm on Friday, July 1st and 5.30am on Saturday, July 2nd. The burglar or burglars gained access to the shop after they pushed the glass panel of a shop door through. They then stole the till, which contained a quantity of cash. Tyre slashed
A member of the public contacted the police after a vehicle was damaged in Upton Bishop. They reported that they heard a loud bang between 10.30pm and 11pm on Wednesday, June 29th. The following morning the passenger side tyre of a vehicle was discovered slashed. Please contact the police by calling 101 if you have any further information about this incident. Tools stolen
A vehicle parked in a layby on the A49 between Ross and Hereford had tools stolen from within. The vehicle was parked for approximately one hour, between 8pm and 9pm on Thursday, June 30th. Attempted break in to Village Hall

Trailer stolen
A trailer which had been left in a layby, due to having a blown-out tyre, has been stolen. The offence occurred between 3.30pm on Monday June 27th and 12.30pm on Tuesday, June 29th. Enquiries were made at Herefordshire Council to see whether they had recovered the vehicle, but they had not, so the incident was reported to the police as a theft. The trailer is a twin axled 14 tonne ‘Marston’ tipping trailer, valued at approximately £5,000. Criminal damage
Someone entered the garden of a property on Churchill Place, Ross-on-Wye. They caused criminal damage by tipping over flower pots and throwing ornaments around the garden. This happened sometime after 1.30am on Wednesday, June 29th. The police have been informed.
