A number of burglaries and thefts took place in and around Ross-on-Wye on Remembrance Day, on Wednesday, November 11th.
It is not known whether any of the burglaries are connected, but police inquries into each incident are ongoing. If anyone has any information relating to any one of these incidents, they are urged to contact West Mercia, by calling 101, and quoting the relevant incident reference number provided in this article. In one of these incidents, a member of the public reported that a burglary took place on Overross Close, between 12.30pm and 8pm. This burglary happened at someone’s home. The burglars gained access through a patio door which was smashed. The incident reference number is: 0638-S-111115.
Another a home, this time on Overross Street, was burgled between 1pm and 7.10pm. The burglars gained access through a patio door which was double glazed. Cash and Jewellery were taken. The reference number for this incident is: 0599-S-111115.
Another home in Lea was also burgled. This incident took place between 3pm and 7pm. The burglar or burglars gained access by breaking a door glass pane. Jewellery, Computer equipment and a camera was stolen. The reference for this incident is: 0596-S-111115.
Around the town centre, other types of thefts occurred, with one visitor to Ross-on-Wye falling victim to a pickpocket.
The visitor reported his wallet was stolen whilst he was shopping in the Town Centre on Wednesday. He purchased some lunch and placed his wallet in the side pocket of his trousers.
He discovered the wallet was missing later that day. He contacted his bank who informed him an attempt was made to use his card at 6.28pm at a cash point in Ross. No money was gained as they did not have pin number.
