A fire broke out at a farm in Goodrich, near Ross-on-Wye, in the early hours this morning (Thursday, April 14th), and several fire crews across three counties were called to the scene.
A spokesperson from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told the Ross Gazette that an appliance from Whitchurch, two from Ross-on-Wye, two from South Wales, two from Gloucestershire and the water carrier from Ledbury were all called to the scene. She added that there were several more fire officers in attendance.
The crews were called at 3.10am this morning to reports of a fire inside an agricultural building, approximately 30 - 50 metres in height, which was used to contain livestock. The fire was contained within the building, and the roof was destroyed. There were no casualties, but it is not yet certain whether any of the animals inside the barn were killed.
The crews used five litres of foam and one hose-reel jet to dampen down the area. An agricultural machine was also used by the farmer to dig out the burning stray bales.
A fire investigation is currently being carried out. There will be more updates as soon as we have them.[Update] The fire took place at Huntsham Court Farm, near Symonds Yat East. The farm is owned by Richard Vaughan and his wife Rosamund.The farm specialises in producing the finest rare breed meat from rare pedigree animals - Longhorn beef, Middle White pork and Ryeland lamb.The farm has been in the Vaughan family for nearly four hundred years.
