Two teams from Ross-on-Wye fire station and one crew from Fownhope were called to Sellack during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, May 16th) to reports of a blaze in an outbuilding of a cottage.

A spokesperson from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told the Ross Gazette that fortunately the fire alarm alerted the occupiers of the nearby cottage and all persons were accounted for.

The firefighters were called at 2.43am and used two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one covering jet to dampen down the fire. A positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to pump fresh air into the property after the fire was extinguished.

The fire crews left the scene at 4.45am.
