Crews from Ross Fire Station were mobilised to a fire in Chase Woods at approximately 10.07pm on the night of Wednesday, July 24th.

Smoke was reported to be seen coming from Chase Woods and the crew were initially sent to Tudor Rise.

Fire fighters made their way on foot to try and locate the fire which they found in the middle of the woods.

A spokesperson for Ross Fire Station said: "While crews were making their way they could hear people shouting “run”.

"If this fire was left to develop the whole of the woods could be at risk! Wildfires spread quickly and have devastating consequences on the environment."

The fire was extinguished using backpack extinguishers.

The incident was reported to the police.
