Yesterday (August 17th), the Ross Gazette reported that two Monmouth shopkeepers were the victims of a distraction theft, and that one of those affected had put out a warning to Ross-on-Wye business owners.

One theft took place at Extons in Church Street on Wednesday (August 16th) at approximately 2.25pm.

It was reported that a man had distracted a member of staff before stealing approximately £100 from the till.

Police Officers believe that one individual could be responsible for similar offences.

Another shopkeeper reported that on the same day, a man distracted a shop worker in Tidings, in Monnow Street, before emptying the till of all its cash.

Following these incidents, Gwent Police have released a CCTV image of a man that they are hoping to locate.

If you recognise this man in the picture, please call 101, ask to be put through to Gwent Police, and give the incident reference number: 238 16/08/2017.
