Ross Police have asked anyone who witnesses motorcycles, or any vehicles, being driven off road in a public place to report this to the police immediately.

It is against the law to ride any vehicle off road in a public place, even if the vehicle is insured and registered.

A spokesman for the Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team in Ross-on-Wye was responding to an enquiry from the Ross Gazette.

This followed a claim that a resident had seen two unregistered ‘scrambler type’ bikes being ridden across the length of the Rope Walk grass at the end of December. The witness claimed that the two bikes were ridden from the Hope and Anchor car park diagonally across the grass, over the wooden bridge to Homs Road car park and out onto the street.

The incident was reported on social media and other residents asked if it is in fact illegal and what to do if they witnessed something similar.

This was confirmed by the police who said:?“We want to keep the residents of Ross-on-Wye safe and will take positive action, including seizing any vehicles being used in this manner.”

If you see any vehicles being driven off road in a public place take the registration number and description and report it to the police on 101.
