Six fire crews from the Hereford and Worcester Fire Service (HWFRS) were called to a major incident at Rotherwas Industrial Estate on Wednesday, October 14th, when two buildings and their contents were described as “well alight.”

Two crews from Hereford, one from Fownhope, one from Ewyas Harold, one from Peterchurch, one from Worcester, and an Environmental protection unit from Stourport all attended the fire. A spokesperson for HWFRS confirmed that they were fighting the fire for several hours.

Main jets, hose reel jets and breathing apparatus were used to put the fire out.

An initial investigation of the premises indicated that the fire may have been caused by welding on a vehicle.

On the day, the area was evacuated by the emergency services, and warnings were put on social media websites, advising motorists to avoid the area at all costs.
