Ten piglets were killed in a fire which broke out on Huntsham Court Farm, Goodrich, last Thursday (April 14th), Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed.

The investigation into the cause of the fire revealed that it was most likely accidentally caused by an electrical ignition source.

Fire crews from Whitchurch, Ross-on-Wye, South Wales, Gloucestershire and Ledbury were all called to the scene. There were also several more fire officers in attendance.

The crews were called at 3.10am in the early hours of Thursday morning to reports of a fire inside an agricultural building, approximately 30 - 50 metres in height, which was used to contain livestock. The fire was contained within the building, and the roof was destroyed.

The crews used five litres of foam and one hose-reel jet to dampen down the area. An agricultural machine was also used by the farmer to dig out the burning stray bales.
