Residents in Lea are on the alert, after a home in the centre of the village, near to the crossroads, was burgled and ransacked on Thursday, June 1st after the owners went out for an hour.
The burglary took place between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Thursday afternoon. The burglar or burglars smashed a window, entered the house and trashed every room in what appeared to be a search for cash. However, they did not take expensive gadgets that were in the house, such as a laptop and a Kindle.
A Lea resident contacted the Ross Gazette after reading reports of burglaries in Ross-on-Wye in last week’s edition of the paper, and commented that he feared the offenders are “spreading their net outwards.”
He added that there is a good network in Lea, and by Friday, most of the residents knew about the burglary, and are keeping an eye out for any suspicious activity.
