Local police are investigating an incident when the rear windscreen of a Land Rover Defender was smashed on Saturday afternoon (March 5th) in Sellack, near Ross-on-Wye. It has been claimed that two men wearing face masks smashed the window, and then fled the scene, escaping through a field.
The police have confirmed that they were called at 1.33pm on Saturday, March 5th to reports of criminal damage to a Land Rover Defender in Sellack. Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances of how the window came to be damaged.
Members of a nearby Hunt Saboteurs group have contacted the Ross Gazette, saying that the Land Rover that was damaged belonged to a member of their group. They said that people were inside the vehicle when the window was smashed, and they were showered in glass.
A member of the group told the Gazette that members of South Wales Hunt Saboteurs, as well as other groups, had been monitoring the Ross Harriers Hunt on Saturday, in the Peterstow area.
They said two masked men used a metal bar to smash the window of the car, and then fled the scene. They said that they called the police immediately.
A member of the Ross Harriers told the Gazette: “I can confirm this was brought to our attention, but I can categorically say that none of our supporters were wearing masks, or were involved in this alleged incident.”
