After the Ross Gazette went to press on Tuesday afternoon, news came in that more damage had been done to the playground equipment at the Ropewalk in Ross-on-Wye.

Fencing used by the contractors had been moved and one of the concrete blocks used to weigh them down had been hurled into the centre of the park. A steering wheel from the boat had been damaged as well as one of the swing seats.

A spokesperson for Ross Town Council told the Ross Gazette that it was heartbreaking. She said: "The park has been so well used since it opened and after all the money and time that has been spent on it, it is heartbreaking."

The Town Council’s amenities operatives have spent the day at the park making it safe so it is still open for young children to use.

However, the spokesperson aded that they will be asking the manufacturers to return to finish the repairs and possibly reinforce some of the equipment. She added: The equipment is designed for small children and this looks as if older teenagers have caused this mindless, unthinking damage."

The incidents have been reported to West Mercia Police and if you have any information please contact the police on 101.
