A murder investigation is continuing following a stabbing on Commercial Street, Hereford on Monday, January 29th.
The man, who was assaulted at midday, later died in hospital. West Mercia Police confirmed the identity of the victim as Robert Eacock. They said: “We can now confirm that the man who died yesterday, after an attack that took place on Hereford’s Commercial Street, is 33-year-old Robert Eacock from Hereford. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
The murder investigation is continuing and police have confirmed that they do not believe there is any wider threat to the public. The area around Commercial Street where the incident took place is still partly closed while police investigate the scene.
Flowers have been placed at the scene and a t-shirt has been placed on the pavement for people to sign.
Superintendent Sue Thomas, local policing lead for Herefordshire, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the man at this time. I would strongly urge anyone with information to contact the police.”

The four people arrested yesterday have been released, and one further man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
