A tweet from a spokesperson for West Mercia Police has highlighted the problem of non-emergency calls.

They said that a 999 call was received on Friday, January 18th, from someone who couldn’t get a cash machine to give them any cash.

They did try to ring the bank first, but hung up as they had too many ‘on hold’ options, proceeding to ring 999 instead.

The spokesperson said: “999 is only for emergencies #MakeTheRightCall”
