Conservatives in Herefordshire have kick started their police and crime commissioner election campaign.

It was launched in Lyonshall, North Herefordshire by John Campion, the Conservative candidate for West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner.

Also in attendance was North Herefordshire MP, Bill Wiggin, Councillor Roger Philips (Arrow Ward) along with dozens of Conservative activists.

John Campion has a three-point plan to improve policing in Herefordshire.

Mr Campion says included in his plan is ensuring appropriate police times, better crime prevention and tackling both rural and urban crime.

John Campion added: "I have developed a three point plan for improving local policing which will deliver a reassured, reformed and secure West Mercia and create a safer Herefordshire.

"I will also be a Commissioner who works closely with MPs and local councillors to produce a joined up approach so to both beat crime in Herefordshire and get the best resources for the county."
