The police are looking for a van driver after an elderly woman needed stitches when she fell over in the road at Hildersley on Monday, July 13th.

The woman, believed to be in her 80s, was crossing the road when a van, coming towards Ross-on-Wye from the Gloucester direction appeared over the brow of the hill.

She told the police that the van appeared to be travelling at speed. The van driver blew his horn and the woman tried to speed up to get out of the way. The driver then overtook her and she fell over. The van stopped but the driver did not get out, then the van drove off.

Several people came forward to assist the woman and a paramedic was called. She suffered a black eye and contusions on her head.

The police understand that one witness made a note of the registration number of the van and they would very much like to talk to anyone who assisted the woman or witnessed the incident.
