A man who has been reported to the police in Ross-on-Wye many times has been issued with a police order.

PC Shirley Peters gave an update on policing issues in the town at the Town Council meeting on Monday, November 21st. She told the Councillors that the man has been causing distress to many people especially shop workers. She said that the Councillors would be aware of the problems they have been having with a homeless gentleman in Ross over the past few months.

She told them that the gentleman has been dealt with by means of a Section 35 notice to remove him from areas where he has been causing 'harassment, alarm and distress' to shop workers and shoppers alike.

She said if this is not effective they will issue a Behaviour Order.

She added that the police would welcome support with providing more CCTV cameras in the town. She said evidence is often lost due to the poor coverage of certain areas of the town. Councillor Caroline Utting said the Council would need the approach to be made formally so that it can be considered.

Councillor David Ravenscroft suggested that the Council could consider approaching the Police and Crime Commissioner as he has funds available for grants for safety initiatives.
