West Mercia crime prevention officer, Paul Crumpton has asked for residents of residential park homes to be on their guard against traders calling at their door and suggesting that they need work to be carried out. This follows a recent incident in which several men visited a residential home unit in Ross and suggested that work needed to be carried out on the unit. Money which had been left on a table in the home was later found to be missing.

Mr Crumpton said: "If you have any doubts about anyone who has called and said you need work doing, especially if they said they have recently carried out something similar for a neighbour, call the police on 101."

If you think a scam is currently being carried out call 999.

As the victims of this type of distraction theft are often not online the Ross Gazette is urging everyone to spread the word and remind people that if they have any doubt about anyone calling at their home refuse to let them in until their identity has been checked and call 101.
