A seven-year-old Border Collie has been placed under a destruction order if its owner fails to keep it on a lead and wearing a muzzle whenever it is in a public place.

The dog left a puncture wound in a woman’s hand as she tried to protect her Staffordshire Bull Terrier from being attacked.

The dog’s owner, a 46-year-old Ross-on-Wye man pleaded guilty at Hereford Magistrate’s Court on May 4th, to owning a dog that was dangerously out of control which caused an injury.

He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge order which has been imposed on March 6th at Hereford Magistrates Court for the offences of theft and assault.

In addition to fines totalling £50, a surcharge to victim services of £85 and an order to pay costs of £100 Silk was ordered to pay compensaton of £1,695.

Magistrates also ordered Silk to complete a community order before March 3rd, 2018 which will include 15 days of rehabilitation activity.

An order was made that his dog must be kept on a lead and muzzled in public places. If it is not it must be destroyed.
