A 63-year-old woman was taken to Hereford Hospital at 8.52pm on Sunday evening, April 9th, after being rescued from a septic tank in Tanyard Lane, Ross-on Wye.
The woman had fallen into the tank at a kennels at about 7.20pm and two crews from Ross-on-Wye attended the incident.
The woman was rescued via a manhole cover using water rescue equipment and it is thought that she had been in the tank for about 45 minutes.
A spokesman for the fire service said ‘she was stood up to her shoulders’ in a very unpleasant situation.
Oxygen therapy and trauma care was given to the woman, and her husband was also treated at the scene for shock. After being rescued, the woman was taken by ambulance to Hereford Hospital.
A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said that she had suffered a bad graze on her right arm but there was no suggestion of her having swallowed anything.
