A MALE was arrested for drug offences, handling stolen goods, and theft of a motor vehicle in a police raid of a Ross property.

The warrant was carried out at Old Market Close, Ross-on-Wye, on the morning of Wednesday, May 30.

Ross-on-Wye Safer Neighbourhood Team and West Mercia Police acted after several people in the area came forward with information.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team are holding a property marking event at Screwfix, Ross-on-Wye today (April 6). Residents are invited to bring along items for postcode marking to prevent tool theft.

Police have repeatedly issued reminders to car owners about the importance of removing valuable items from sight.

The Gazette has reported on a number of car thefts in the last month where a common link between between them was that there had been something of perceivable value on display. A person was arrested and released on bail in relation to a vehicle crime in Ross-on-Wye, on the evening of March 22.

PC Dan Underwood told the Gazette that the most common trigger behind the recent vehicle crime in Ross-on-Wye are people leaving valuables, or items like look like they could be valuable, on display within their cars.

This doesn’t just include expensive looking items such as phones and laptops, but also items such as luggage, bags and cases which look like they might contain something of financial value to criminals.
