Thieves scaled St Bartholomew’s Church in Much Marcle sometime overnight between April 24th and 25th. They stole a large amount of lead and damaged headstones in the graveyard.
The Ledbury Safer Neighbourhood Team tweeted about the incident, and asked that if anyone has any information that may help the police in their investigation to call 101.
The church has been targeted by criminals in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the Gazette reported that cash was stolen from a collection box in St Bartholomew’s Church, between 11am and 6.30pm on Easter Monday (April 17th.)
In an earlier incident, which took place on Friday, April 7th, the cash box was broken into and the contents were stolen.
A possible suspect, a male, was seen in the church at the time of this theft. He is 5’3" in height, with wavy dark hair. He was reportedly well dressed in a shirt and trousers, but did not have a jacket.
If you have any information about any of the incidents detailed, please report it to the police by calling 101. Alternatively, if you want to give information but don’t want to give your name you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
