A woman was assaulted on Whitecross Road in Hereford, by a man she stopped to help, after it was believed he had been injured. The police are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward. This happened between 4.15pm and 4.25pm on Wednesday, May 18th.
The 58-year-old victim was walking down Whitecross Road towards The Monument public house in Hereford, when she saw a car pulling out of the junction of Whitecross Day Nursery.
She then witnessed a collision between a silver Volkswagen Passat and a cyclist, and she went over to try to help.
The cyclist then tried to ride off on his bike after the collision. The woman tried to stop him from doing this. She held on to the saddle of his bike.
Whilst she was doing this, the cyclist is then thought to have punched her, before she let go and he walked off, up the road.
The cyclist is described as a white man in his twenties and of a slim build. He is believed to be between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 9ins in height, with short blond hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a light grey polo style T-shirt and light grey tracksuit bottoms. He was riding a dark coloured mountain type bike which may have had a damaged front wheel after the incident.
