This is the time of year when many people reflect on what has happened in the past year and looks forward to a new year starting.

It is the same for the Ross Gazette, although this year has seen more changes than most as familiar faces have left the paper and new ones have joined.

The Editor, Jo Scrivin, thinks that with the team now at the Gazette, and also with the support of being part of the group which provides news across Wales and the Borders, as part of the Tindle Group, the Gazette is looking forward to a bright future.

Everyone knows that new technology has affected the number of people who read a newspaper but Dean Amos, the new regional manager for the Ross Gazette is extremely optimistic. He said: “This newspaper has been part of the Ross community for over 150 years, it has been there for all the important events in the town, reporting and recording significant moments, such as a Royal visit this year, as well as the dozens of smaller events which matter to the people who live here. I am positive that with the support of all our readers the Ross Gazette will continue to play an important role in Ross-on-Wye for years to come.”

The first public duty for Dee Lewis, who is Dean’s deputy regional manager, this year, was the annual Remembrance Day parade at St Mary’s Church. She laid a wreath and observed the enormous community support there is for such events.

Jo, the Editor, said: “I look back on this momentous year for Ross with the Royal visit, the first time HRH The Prince of Wales has made an official visit to the town, as well as the culmination of several other projects such as the long awaited new playground for the Ropewalk, with pleasure and pride.

“We are looking forward to covering lots more events next year, such as the new Good Neighbour Scheme and the relaunch of Ross in Bloom, as well as supporting our loyal advertisers and meeting friends, old and new.”
