MADAM, For some weeks now, I have had concerns about the state of the debris at the back of the derelict building (formerly MEB) in Gloucester road. I recently contacted a member of the Hereford Council's Environmental Health Department. The person I spoke to showed no interest whatsoever in my concerns that this debris posed a serious health threat, due to the proximity of food outlets.
Ultimately, I was given the telephone number of Cllr Andy Atkinson, who proved to be most helpful and will be monitoring the situation to ensure that the site is cleared up. He has also expressed his concern about the number of vacant commercial properties currently in Ross, which seem to be owned by people not resident in the area, who have no interest in the viability of Ross as a shopping centre.
It is fortunate, therefore, that we now have a Councillor who is prepared to listen to the views of local residents and act upon their concerns. I am sure Andy would like to hear from people who have similar concerns about this property and others like it.
