The Orchard Care Home was officially opened in Ganarew this month.

The new home is the eighth for Milkwood Care Limited, a leading provider of specialist residential care homes.

At the opening ceremony, David Davies, MP for Monmouth, cut the official ribbon. Staff, residents and friends of The Orchard enjoyed celebratory cups of tea and homemade cakes.

The Orchard, located in Monmouthshire, is a custom designed residential home, offering care services to elderly residents with specific care needs. Kay Parker, manager, told the Ross Gazette that they will care for young dementia patients, and those with early-onset Alzheimers.

The Orchard has been built in the grounds of its sister home, Ganarew House, and is set in a beautiful location surrounded by the picturesque Wye Valley and Forest of Dean.

Robin Cheesman, one of the directors of Milkwood Care said: “We strongly believe that life in any of our homes should revolve around and involve each one of the people in our care. Our team here, led by managers Kay and Sylvia, has already started on making The Orchard a cosy and safe place to live.”

He added: “They are employing new staff, most of whom we hope will come from the local area; they will be using local produce where so ever possible, and they will be providing expert care for the needs of the local community.”
