MOVES to breath new life into a village church are a step closer after a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid. The Brampton Abbotts Regeneration Group (BARG), formed in 2012, and their partner – the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT - the national charity protecting historic churches at risk) obtained a Start-Up Grant of £9,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund in support of their plans to create a community enterprise for the local area. This grant will be used to explore a range of potential uses for the site, including a pop up restaurant, bakery and microbrewery, and will help put St Michael's back on the road to sustainability. "This will give us the opportunity to conduct feasibility studies," Group Chair, Stuart Fraser told the Ross Gazette. "This is the first step in getting a bigger grant."
