There was a sea of red, white and blue at Ashfield Park Primary School as pupils dressed in patriotic colours for a fun afternoon. Organiser Mrs Ketteridge told the Ross Gazette that the day had been planned as a treat for the pupils as a reward for their hard work this term on values.

Although the staff had hoped parents would have been able to join the children for a picnic in the grounds, as the morning was wet, the picnic was held indoors. The children sat in rows, like at a traditional street party and coloured their own tablecloth for the occasion.

Every child had completed a portrait of the Queen to earn housepoints and they had all made crowns to wear. They spent the afternoon playing games and having fun.
