Callum Marshall is a Sports Coach for several Herefordshire schools, and the coach for Gorsley U9 Football Club, he has also refereed a number of matches.

Last week however, he had a whole new experience as he was asked to hold a warm up session and referee a match for residents at Ross Court, a Brighterkinds residential home.

Callum met one of the residents, Mrs Betty Whittal who had spent her childhood playing football with her brothers and wanted to have the opportunity to play again. Together with a number of other residents and enthusiastic staff, a fast Five-A-Side game was played, with Miss Fay Middlecote being awarded Player of the Match.

Callum told the Ross Gazette “It was a great chance to work with such enthusiastic people, who inspired not just myself but everyone at the match.

“Many thanks to the residents at Ross Court for this opportunity, and John Kyrle High School for the use of their sports hall.”
