MADAM, Am I the only person in the town who thinks that the roundabout at the start of Cantilupe Road has become an eyesore.

The local garden store has done its best to brighten up the centre of the roundabout but it is badly let down by the railings on the outside.

At one time there was the occasional banner that was up there for two weeks to advertise an event that was happening in the town for the benefit of the town, such as the Hospital Fete, the Carnival, the Lions' bonfire.

Now it appears to have become a permanent advertising hoarding for anyone who wishes to use it.

Events can be advertised six weeks before and for about two weeks after, if the banner starts to fall off it can be weeks before the owner turns up to put it right.

When the Olympic torch is paraded through the streets of Ross, with all the publicity this will bring as the media circus follows it around the country, is this the image of the the town that we want displayed on the TV and in the national papers?
