Madam, For many months I have had to put up with rows of cars parking opposite my house during the day, causing chaos to the traffic using Alton Road.
We have had the situation 'monitored' by the local council and the police, all to no avail.
I have had abuse thrown at me by passing drivers whilst getting on and off my drive. For the last 11 months I have been trying to sell my house and the comment I generally receive as to why it is not selling is 'because of the cars opposite'. I have now given up on selling and have resigned myself to staying there.
So, why am I am moaning now? Last night, 27th April, from before 10pm I had an articulated lorry parked directly opposite my house. As we all know there is a lorry park not five minutes from Alton Road. I had the constant drone of his generator going all night so that he had some light and heat in his cab. This was despite telephoning the local police at 10.30pm telling them of the situation and being told in return that someone would deal with the complaint. Whether they turned up or not I do not know but he was still there at 7am the following morning. What worries me most is what did he do when he needed toilet facilities? The obvious answer is that he used the grass and tree area of Bradford's Building Supplies, how very healthy for children that sometimes play there!
So when the driver goes back to his company, which was based in Lanarkshire, and tells his colleagues of the free parking, not only will I have cars all day, but lorries all night. Ross Town Council, Herefordshire Council and Ross Police......you disappoint me!
P Catten, Ross
