In one of their top Christmas displays Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club gymnasts delighted parents and friends with not one but two performances of their Christmas display. Both were a complete sell out.
Over 130 gymnasts took part with displays ranging from high difficulty apparatus routines to 'join in and have fun' demonstrations of basic skills learned in gymnastics classes.
Brightly coloured costumes plus the obvious delight of the gymnasts taking part added to the atmosphere. The coaches had surpassed themselves with ideas this year.
Enthusiastic pirates bounded off trampettes, reindeers pranced around, skittles rolled and elves and wizards arrived from the Forest to play their tricks in the gym. Next, a group of mischievous schoolgirls from St. Trinians appeared from every corner to do gym their way. Diving off trampettes, making human pyramids and outdoing each other made a great spectacle.
Scenes from the shows such as 'Annie', 'Grease' and 'Footloose' gave everyone a chance to work together and show off individual tumbling skills.
An innovative 'Good Angels & Bad Angels' display by one group saw gymnasts in tutus instead of leotards.
Many of the club's squad gymnasts performed individual routines on apparatus. Iwan Scrivens, Bailey Nash, Ryan Shinners and Sam Cooper performed excellent routines on parallel bars.
Ryan and Josh Cooper also performed on rings amazing the audience by adding double back somersaults as dismounts.
Spencer Hill and Josh Cooper showed their pommel routines full of fast circles and flairs. This was followed by Sophie Simpkins, Anna Courtney and Phoebe Huxstep in a beautiful trio routine on beam.
Gymnasts come from towns and villages all over the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and Sunday made this a day to remember.
The Club welcomes people of all ages and abilities to come and enjoy sport and exercise in a safe, pleasant and friendly environment under the supervision of experienced and well qualified instructors.
