A LARGE and enthusiastic crowd took advantage of Sunday afternoon's glorious sunshine to watch a team of local players pit their wits and footwork against eleven former Aston Villa players.

The entertaining game, played at John Kyrle High School, was the climax of a year-long fundraising exercise by the Ross team, aimed at raising £10,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice.

As the Ross Gazette went to press, the match organisers were still counting the day's takings. The final amount will be published next week.
