Madam, We would like to invite you and your readers to the next meeting of the Civic Society on Wednesday, March 12th, when the local historian and author, Jon Hurley, will be giving an illustrated talk on John Kyrle, the Man of Ross.

Jon has recently written a biography of John Kyrle; and to mark this important meeting, the Civic Society has decided to hold its meeting in the downstairs lounge of the Larruperz Centre (instead of our usual venue, the Watkins room) from 7 o'clock, with the talk at 7.30 pm.

This pre-talk period will offer an opportunity for members and our guests to meet informally in comfortable surroundings, with wine provided by the Society at a modest price. The intention is not to have our usual interval, but non-alcoholic refreshments will also be available from the bar both before and after the talk.

This pattern for the evening is also an experiment, which if successful, could well be adopted as our regular pattern for future meetings.

Andrew Talbot-Ponsonby

(Co-Chairman, Ross and District Civic Society)
